Another First for Delaware: Dragon Boat Racing
The popiular coastal resort city of Lewes, DE will welcome its first Dragon Boat Festival to benefit Sussex Academy on Sunday, September 15, 2013. The race happens at Canalfront Park & Marina in Lewes, known as “the first town in the first state”. This is the first known Dragon Boat race in Delaware.
Event organizers are planning for 36 teams to race down a 350-meter course in the inaugural year.

Habitat for Humanity of Marshall County, AL Dragon Boat Festival
Guntersville, AL is a beautiful setting for the Inaugural Habitat for Humanity of Marshall County, AL Dragon Boat Festival. The city looks like an Appalachian island, with the Tennessee River and Lake Guntersville hugging the city surrounded by mountains. Race day will be Saturday, July 20 at Lake Guntersville Civitan Park.

Boatloads of Fun: Akron, OH
A city that has enjoyed dragon boats on the serene Portage Lakes for years will now get its own festival. The Inaugural Portage Lakes Dragon Boat Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 13. Benefiting Boatloads of Hope, an outreach program of the breast cancer survivor team Dragon Dream Team, the race will be held on Turkeyfoot Lake at Portage Lakes State Park.
